The Sea Tow FoundationTM understands what it means to be a recreational boater and provides access to relevant education, tools and resources that boaters can use to stay safe on the water. Our aim is to work with other organizations, boating agencies, community advocates and businesses to help spread the boating safety message to eliminate preventable recreational boating accidents and deaths to keep boating safe and responsible.

The Sea Tow Foundation is a nationwide 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization and all donations are tax-deductible. Your support has a lasting effect on every person who borrows a life jacket to prevent drowning or who takes the Sober Skipper Pledge to eliminate Boating Under the Influence.

Your donation makes a difference.

National Safe Boating Week Resource Kit

May 21-27, 2022 is National Safe Boating Week, a week-long, focused event that brings awareness to safe boating before the Memorial Day weekend and the kick-off to the summer boating season. Each day during the week, the Sea Tow Foundation will be sharing boating safety tips and custom imagery to help celebrate and we encourage our friends and partners to share the message. Click here for more information about all the resources for you to use to promote safe boating including social media imagery, blog content and more.

Join us and follow @SeaTowFoundation on social to learn more and to see the Tip of the Day.

Engine Cut-Off Switch Law

On April 1, 2021, a new federal law took effect requiring the use of engine cut-off switches in all boats under 26 feet while underway. Falls overboard happen too often and can be deadly if a boat's propeller is still engaged, so an engine cut-off switch does just that - it shuts off the engine when the lanyard is pulled out. This allows the person in the water to safely re-board the boat and then restart the engine to continue on the trip.

To help comply with this new law, a Velcro wristband has been developed and is available as a thank-you for a donation to the Sea Tow Foundation. For more details, visit www.boatingsafety.com/ECOS-wristband.

Help us create a world where boaters are
safe and responsible

Sea Tow Foundation is the nonprofit part of the Sea Tow Family. We work to provide access to education, tools and resources in order to promote safe and responsible boating.

To get involved, please join our boating safety community. These groups of dedicated people volunteer their talent and time to help us operate our boating safety programs and activities in more than 600 communities across 50 states and 6 territories of the United States; and there is always more to do. Join our boating safety community to help us make a difference.

And please consider making a donation to help us continue our efforts with our programs that prevent drowning, work to eliminate boating under the influence accidents and bring awareness to safe boating options.
